Great collaborations with researchers and practitioners leads to great outcomes! Here is one announcement by Dr. Keri Guilbault about our latest article focused on improving the preparation and development of district gifted education coordinators:
📣 I’m excited to announce the publication of our article “District Gifted Education Coordinator Preparation and Development: Establishing Training Pathways that Equip for Excellence and Strong Equity” in the latest issue of Gifted Child Today.
💡 In this collaborative work with my colleagues Celeste Sodergren, Ph.D., and Sarah Caroleo, we address a critical gap in educational leadership preparation. While much attention is given to training principals and superintendents, middle-management roles like District Gifted Education Coordinators (DGECs) have been overlooked despite their vital importance in:
▪️ Closing excellence gaps
▪️ Promoting achievement for all learners
▪️ Ensuring equity in gifted education programs
In this article, we propose a comprehensive training model (pre-service and in-service) specifically designed for DGECs, emphasizing the unique responsibilities of this position and grounding it in strong equity principles and the National Association For Gifted Children Advanced Standards. We believe properly prepared DGECs can be powerful change agents for equity across their districts.
