Thrown In The Deep End of Educational Mid-Management?
I won’t let you drown!
When I was a kid, my father thought the best way to teach me to swim was to throw me in the deep end. He also threw me off of a high dive, but that is a story for another day. He meant well, but it took a LOT of swim lessons to get me over my fear of drowning. Even after I joined the swim team, I still worried there might be sharks in the deep end. Don’t tell me you never thought about it!
In any event, there are many times in life where I have relieved that terrifying feeling that I must come up to the surface and get moving fast so that I don’t drown. Taking that first job as a district coordinator was definitely one of them!
I’ve Been There.
I have been a gifted kid and I’ve experienced both good and ill-fitting placements. I have been a parent of gifted kids and known nothing about what I should do. I have been a public school teacher, a district administrator, and a college professor. Now I am a researcher and a consultant as well.
I Can Help.
We are a community. The only way we can make this world a better place is if we help each other. I can help you navigate these waters, learn to swim, and even compete to win in whatever your race may be.
